About Me

My Background

I was formerly the Director of Technology for United Technologies and retired early to pursue my desire to paint. While attending the MFA program at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I began to paint architectural landscapes in the Historic District of Savannah. Shortly after attending SCAD I became the Interim Director fo the Telfair Museums of Art where I had the responsibility of opening the new Jepson Center for the Arts. After Telfair I resumed my painting adventure.

My Medium

I studied Old Masters style painting at SCAD and have continued to use oil almost exclusively in my work.

My Inspiration

It's not difficult to find interesting architectural landscapes in Savannah. What I find most interesting is the contrast between the strict lines of the buildings and the perfect asymetry of the majestic live oak trees, azaleas, and other flora in and around Savannah. The challenge is to find the moment in time that the light, shadows, and compositions are at their most beautiful. Sometimes that occurs only for a few hours a year, sometimes they will never happen again. It brings me great pleasure to bring my clients back to that instant through my art.
